Day 2

In his almost 16 years in Congress, King has passed exactly one bill as primary sponsor, redesignating a post office. He won’t debate his opponent and rarely holds public town halls. Instead, he spends his time meeting with fascist leaders in Europe and retweeting neo-Nazis.
Des Moines Register Editorial Board, October 13, 2018

Day 10

I do want to put this at the feet of Barack Obama. He contributed mightily to dividing us. He focused on our differences rather than our things that unify us. And this is some of the fruits of that labor.
Steve King

* In response to the June 2017 shooting of members of Congress during their baseball practice. Five people were wounded, including House majority whip Steve Scalise.

Day 43

None of the funds made available by this Act may be used to encourage, allow, or require any individual to use any bathroom other than the bathroom of the individual’s biological sex.
Steve King, in amendment to the 2016 bill that funds Congress’ annual payroll, maintenance and operations budget

* King subsequently voted against the bill, since his amendment was not added to it.

Day 51

I can tell you, President Obama’s vision of American is not like our vision of America. Now I don’t assert where he was born, but I will just tell you that we are all certain that he was not raised with an American experience. So these things that beat in our hearts when we hear the national anthem and when we say the pledge of allegiance, doesn’t beat the same for him.
Steve King

Day 56

Democrats want to destroy the credibility of the objective truth.
Steve King

* We went down into the Library of Congress and found a microfiche there of two newspapers in Hawaii, each of which had published the birth of Barack Obama. It would have been awfully hard to fraudulently file the birth notice of Barack Obama being born in Hawaii and get that into our public libraries and that microfiche. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some other explanations on how they might’ve announced that by telegram from Kenya.

Day 66

United We Dream, an undocumented youth activist group, organized a protest at the Iowa congressman’s office. Two dozen or so demonstrators showed up at King’s office to voice their displeasure with him, and they arrived wearing caps and gowns to reinforce their message that they want to pursue higher education and careers in the U.S.

Day 78

I searched for the word ‘Multicultural’ on the Iowa State website, and it came back with 59 different multicultural groups that operate on campus. It started with Asians and it ended with Zeitgeist—so from A to Z. Most of them were victims groups, victimology, people that feel sorry for themselves. And they’re out there recruiting our young people to be part of the group that feels sorry for themselves.

Day 84

I don’t find any prohibition to separating children from their parents at the border. There’s nothing cruel about this.* **

* Teenagers as young as 14 were handcuffed, slammed against walls, stabbed with pens, subjected to anti-Latino and other racist remarks, and stripped down to their underwear, forced to spend hours strapped to the restraint chair.
